About Me

Jim Resczenski, MD

Board Certified Psychiatrist

I have called Colorado home since 2013 after moving here from southwest Virginia. I attended medical school and completed my psychiatric residency at the University of Colorado. I then went on to complete a two year psychodynamic psychotherapy training program through the Denver Institute for Psychoanalysis.

Through residency I gained experience working in high acuity community hospitals, the VA hospital, and specialty outpatient clinics including one for LGBTQ+ individuals. Further psychodynamic training post-residency provided me with greater understanding and skills to help foster non-judgemental exploration within the theraputic space.

I grew up in rural Florida playing in the Suwannee river, paddling on lakes, and running through the woods. I attended Virginia Tech for undergrad where I studied Environmental Science and Biology and worked as an EMT for two years prior to moving to Colorado for medical school.

Most of my weekends are spent in the mountains with my dog, Roux, or caring for my garden and my ever-growing army of houseplants.

This work is important to me. I am the only employee at Rocky Waters Psychiatry. If we work together, you’ll interact with me directly for scheduling or prescription follow up. Have more questions for me or about my practice? Schedule a free initial phone call and make sure to ask.
